We all know that this is one of the greatest novels, but the point is to read it again. I recently re-read this after realizing I had only read it once, in high-school, and we all know that doesn’t count. This novel defined a generation and prophesized a way of life that still blazes bright.

The teachings of Taoism vis-à-vis Winnie the Pooh. I can’t really think of any other way to explain it. It’s literally that simple, and that beautiful.

This was quite literally the best novel I've ever read in my entire life. I honestly don't know if anything could possibly top this. This book is life; it is everything that ever is, was or could be. It contained characters that were the purest forms of evil and the most brilliant forms of goodness, but what was most interesting about that fact was that none of these people could have been anything other than what they were.

More fascinating than reading the gamut of works by one of the greatest authors is understanding their craft and where the stories came from. This memoir follows Hemingway in the 20s while he lived in Paris, gallivanting through cafe's and bar's with the likes of Joyce and Fitzgerald, learning from Gertrude Stein, and most importantly, discovering himself as a writer. If you say you like Hemingway but haven't read this, then, well, you must, because you'll understand him for who he was, versus what he wrote.

Will finds himself in possession of a large sum of money - more than he knows what to do with - but feels guilty about having it and keeping it because of the recent death of one of his best friends. So, Will and his other friend, called Hand, decide to spend all of the money in a one-week attempt to travel all around the world. One of the most original and unique novels I've read. After you read this, go and read the rest of Dave Eggers' work.

A true literary masterpiece. I have tried it once and failed, well, got frustrated and gave up. But now I'm tackling it with a stronger understanding of Joyce and of what the book entails. This epic follows Stephen Dedalus & Leopold Bloom on June 16, 1904, in Dublin, chronicling and intertwining their lives through the, at all times, mundane, fascinating, revolting and intricate activities of that one day. The book's stream-of-consciousness technique--which suggests no mere stream but an impossibly deep, swift-running river--we're privy to their thoughts, emotions, and memories.
